We all Hmong but still having difficult to express ourselves at time. I will write in English since it's a universal language so that we all can understand.
My intent is to promote Hmonglish to be the standard language for all Hmong, therefore brainstorms are needed.
We should think beyond the scope of our current existing languages starting by asking yourself, how do we send a message so that both the blind (White Hmong) and the deaf (Green Hmong) without a translator. Off course it has to be a language that we and the blind and the deaf understood. That language should be Hmonglish, hehe J
We all should know that creating a new script is easy but teaching and getting everyone to use it is going to be much harder.
So now we have Hmongwhite, Hmonggreen and Hmonglish. The goal is we need some sort of rules and principles to make the new Hmonglish as translator language for the other two.
Principle 1. Hmongwhite à Hmongwhite_Simplify, Hmonggreen à Hmonggreen_Simplify
Principle 2. Hmongwhite_Simplify + Hmonggreen_Simplify à Hmong_Simplify
Principle 3. Hmong_Simplify à Hmonglish
A=Hmongwhite, B=Hmonggreen, C=Hmongsimplify, D=Hmonglish
Example of Principle 1. A à AC, B à BC
pojniam à quasniam, quaspuj à quasnam
yawmtxiv à quastxiv, quasyawg à quastxiv
mus à moos
los à laos, lug à lueg
hais à ha’s, has à ha’s
tag à ta-g, taag à ta-g
Example of Principle 2. AC + BC = C
quasniam + quasnam = quasn’am
yawmtxiv + quasyawg à quastxiv
moos + moog = mooq
nej + mej = mnej
laos + lueg à loeq
Example of Principle 3. C à D
Moog à mooq
Loeg à loeq
quasn’am à quan’am
We just need to develop some sort of conversion process from regular --> simplify --> standard by finding rules and principles to support it. For example:
Cim Rule of Change. Cim S was replace Cim nothing (Cim Ua) & Cim Ua was replace with H.
Apostrophe Rule of Change. An apostrophe is to replace the vowel “I” such as a’ = ai & ‘a=ia.
Rule Cim Q. A word with tus cim Q mean a word agreement between both Hmong therefore Hmongwhite should disregard it.
I know this will be a total shark and sound crazy to some of you. But, your thought is always welcome. Thanks.
