(WTNH) - The family of murdered Yale graduate student Annie Le is considering filing a civil lawsuit against Yale University. Le disappeared one year ago, on September 8th, 2009. Her body was found days later stuffed behind the wall in the basement lab where she worked. Now for the first time we are hearing her family's dissatisfaction with how Yale handled the case. Brian King, a New York attorney, was hired by Annie Le's mother. King spoke to reporters outside court where accused killer Raymond Clark was scheduled to appear. "There were a few isues that they were not happy about, which is the delay in the investigation," King said. "She was a missing person and as of right now the family does not feel they (Yale) responded fast enough." | ||||||
Police classified the murder as a case of workplace violence. Clark, a lab technician, had worked alongside Le as she did her research. Le's family is questioning if Yale University did a background Check, and questioning the response to a fire alarm in the lab the day Le disappeared. "Why wasn't anyone helping her when this was happening," King said. "Where was everybody? Apparently Yale has police, also have security; what was their role that day in checking for her? So those are things we're looking into right now." Days after her body was found, Yale lab technician Raymond Clark was arrested and charged with her murder. He pleaded not guilty to the crime. Yale University's Public Affairs spokesman, Thomas Conroy issued the following response Wednesday afternoon: "Yale University has not been notified of any legal action or planned legal action. The Yale community continues to offer support to Annie's family and friends." Le's family spent this anniversary day at home in California holding a private memorial. Clark's attorneys met with prosecutors Wednesday morning. They will be back in court at the end of the month. | ||||||
